ABS Capital Partners Adds to Team and Portfolio
Growth equity Firm announces new Venture Partner and new investment in leading cybersecurity solutions provider
BALTIMORE, MD. (July 21, 2020)— ABS Capital Partners, a leading late-stage growth company investor, announced that Bion Ludwig has joined the Firm as Venture Partner. Bion is both an entrepreneur and growth company investor, with extensive experience founding, operating, growing and selling successful technology and tech-enabled services businesses. The Firm also announced the addition of GuidePoint Security, a cybersecurity solutions leader enabling organizations to make smarter decisions and minimize risk, to its tech-enabled services portfolio.
Bion was previously a Co-Founder and Partner of Savano Capital Partners. At Savano, Bion sourced, structured, supported and ultimately exited multiple investments including Silver Peak (sold to HPE), Fastly (NYSE: FSLY), Simplus (Sold to Infosys), AddThis (Sold to Oracle), and Upwork (NYSE: UPWK). He also led operations and supported fundraising efforts. Prior to Savano, Bion was a Principal and the first non-founding employee at SmithDefleux Capital Partners and earlier in his career, he founded and co-founded several successful start-up businesses.
“I was drawn to ABS Capital by the caliber of the team and the 30-year history the Firm has in helping growth companies reach their full potential,” said Ludwig. “I look forward to using my experience, network, and entrepreneurial vision to help current ABS Capital portfolio companies continue their rapid growth, as well as to identify and invest in new opportunities for the Firm.” John Stobo, Managing General Partner, shared, “Bion has hands-on experience across many of the critical roles necessary to help companies achieve long-term growth and scalability. He will add significant value to our current portfolio, as well as help the Firm identify new investment opportunities.”
GuidePoint Security is the latest addition to the Firm’s current portfolio. Founded in 2011, GuidePoint enables some of the nation’s top organizations, including 40 of the Fortune 100 and more than half of the U.S. government cabinet-level agencies, to identify threats, optimize resources and integrate best-fit solutions that mitigate cyber risk.
“After cultivating a relationship with the principals of GuidePoint for a number of years, I am excited we were able to make an investment in such a fast growing and market-leading company”, said Michael Avon, General Partner at ABS Capital, who heads the Firm’s business and tech-enabled services group and led the GuidePoint investment. “GuidePoint is indicative of the opportunities we are seeing in the market and I am thrilled to have Bion, whom I have known for many years, join our team to help us capitalize on these opportunities.”
