    Prior to founding ABS Capital in 1990, Don spent more than 20 years with Alex. Brown & Sons Incorporated, where he was President and CEO from 1986 to 1991. In 1986, he took Alex. Brown public. He was the principal architect of Alex. Brown’s innovative industry-specific investment banking units, launching the firm’s health care, technology, and media and communications investing groups. He also led its Investment Banking Division before becoming CEO. These focused industry groups became the firm’s hallmark and brought it to a position of national prominence among Wall Street investment banks. The firm brought hundreds of growth companies to the public markets under his leadership and he developed a keen sense of the capabilities required of high quality management teams, as well as an understanding of how institutional investors and strategic buyers value these companies through varying market cycles. While running Alex. Brown, a growth company itself, Don encountered many of the management issues that his portfolio company CEOs often face.

    Prior to joining ABS Capital in 2001, Phil was the president and CEO of SITEL Corporation. While at SITEL, Clough grew both revenues and EPS significantly, managing operations in 19 countries and serving major corporate clients such as GM, America Online, Capital One and Microsoft. Most importantly, he learned the value of setting and clearly articulating goals and priorities, including regularly measuring against them, something he routinely helps his companies with today. From 1990 to 1997, he was in the Investment Banking Group at Alex. He is a member of the National Venture Capital Association CFO Task Force, on the board of the Washington Chapter of the Private Equity CFO Association, and is a frequent panelist at private equity industry conferences.  He is also a member of the Private Company Financial Reporting Committee, formed by the FASB and AICPA to provide recommendations to the FASB as it sets accounting standards for privately-held enterprises.
